Ahead of the midterms, Democratic clubs around the county and really the nation are stepping up their ground game to get voters informed and with a plan in hand to vote. From August 19 to October 19 we need volunteers each week to help us phonebank and/or door knock La Porte plus select areas of Deer Park.
If you’ve never helped with type of voter engagement before, don’t worry—we have decades combined experience in the group. Each of us have our strengths and this is a lot easier after the first time. Here is a breakdown of the best way to help based on your personality and skill set.
Block Walking
This is best for in-person social butterflies and those with physical stamina to walk outside for a few hours at a time to meet with local Democrats. The summer heat is real, so our block walks will take place early in the morning or during the evenings ahead of the sunset.
Phone/Text Banking
This is best for people that prefer to text over call. Also, best for those that work in the quiet and are a bit computer savvy. After coming to some sessions and if you take well to this task, this activity can be done at home or with the group!
Each session we’ll be be doing a combination of introducing voters to Democrats on the ballot, encouraging early voting (and Election Day) action plans, and more.
